My own struggles with weight date back to my university years when due to a poor diet that was high in convenience foods and lack of any physical activity for best part of three years I ballooned by four stone. I was so unhealthy and I realise now quite unhappy with how I looked.
I then spent the next 25 years yo-yo dieting, losing weight to get married, putting it all back on again after my son was born, losing weight for my 40th birthday, putting it all back on again two years later, losing weight for my 21st wedding anniversary holiday, putting it all back on again by the time I took early retirement. It was exhausting and I really needed to put the brakes on this pattern so that I could enjoy the next stage in my life without thinking about food and calories all the time.
My sister saw an advert for Brighter Eating, Lighter Living and so I signed up the next day. I am so glad that I did. I have learnt so much from the programme and I have lost weight at a very healthy rate each week. I also think my mindset is in a very different place too thanks to my weekly sessions.
I realise that I am not out of the woods yet, changing 25 years of thinking isn’t done overnight, but nonetheless I know a lot more now about the best way to eat to get the maximum nutrient value from your diet, I am enjoying my food and cooking much more than I have ever done so in the past.
